Inbox Detox

That inbox you keep meaning to sort. Let’s just get it done.

Every week it stays like that is another week you’re missing things, avoiding it, and carrying it around in the back of your head. I clear the backlog, block the junk, and set up filters so it stays tidy. You stay in control throughout and nothing gets permanently deleted without your say-so.

What changes after the detox

Not just a tidier inbox. A different relationship with it entirely.

You can actually find things again

Client emails, invoices, booking confirmations. They’re not buried under thousands of unreads any more. The important stuff is right there where you can see it.

You stop avoiding your inbox

You know that thing where you open your inbox, see the state of it and close it again? That stops. It’s clean, it’s manageable, and you actually want to use it.

It stays clean afterwards

I don’t just clear the backlog and wish you luck. Bulk senders get blocked and filtered so incoming mail sorts itself. It stays tidy without you having to think about it.

Nothing important gets lost

Anything unclear gets flagged to you before it goes anywhere. And even after deletion, emails sit in your trash for 30 days before they’re gone permanently. There’s always a safety net.

It’s one less thing on your list

You’ve probably been meaning to sort your inbox for months. Once it’s done, it’s done. No more putting it off, no more “I’ll get to it this weekend.” It’s just handled.

And if it ever gets bad again, you know where I am

The filters keep most of the junk out. But if life gets busy and it starts building up again, one message and we can sort it. You’re not on your own with it.

How it works

Secure access sorted before anything starts. Nothing gets permanently deleted without your say-so.

You get in touch

Tell me roughly how many unread emails you’ve got and which email provider you use. I’ll confirm the price and how we’ll handle access. Work starts once payment is received.

Access sorted securely

Depending on your email provider, we’ll use the most secure access method available. For Gmail that’s the built-in delegate feature, so no password is needed. For other providers I’ll walk you through the options before we start.

The backlog disappears

I work through your inbox methodically, dealing with bulk senders, newsletters and junk. Anything that looks important gets flagged to you before it goes anywhere.

It stays clean

I set up filters so the junk stops landing in your inbox in the first place, then walk you through what I’ve done so you understand the system.

What will it cost?

Drag the slider to roughly how many unread emails you’ve got. The price covers the whole job.

“I can’t fault Virtually Rory. He was polite and helpful and totally not judgemental about my 17,000+ unread emails. Communicated with me about what I wanted to keep and amazed by the outcome. I will try and keep it under control following your tips and if not, I will be back. Thanks again, Rory.”

Questions

To do the job properly I need to be able to see what’s in your inbox, yes. What I’m not doing is reading through your personal or business correspondence. The focus is on identifying bulk senders, newsletters, junk and automated emails. Anything that looks like it might be important gets flagged to you rather than touched.

For Gmail, access is granted through the built-in delegate feature so no password is shared at any point. For other providers we’ll use the most secure method available and I’ll walk you through it before we start. Credentials are shared via LastPass if needed, never over email.

Two safety nets. First, anything that looks like it might matter gets flagged to you before it goes anywhere. Second, deleted emails sit in your trash folder for 30 days before they’re gone for good, so there’s always time to recover anything if needed.

Yes. Gmail clients use the built-in delegate feature for secure access without sharing a password. For Outlook and other providers, get in touch and I’ll explain how we’d handle access for your setup.

Work starts once payment is received. I’ll confirm the price when you get in touch, send an invoice, and book you in once that’s paid.

It depends on the size and state of the inbox. I’ll give you a realistic timeframe when you get in touch so you know what to expect before we start.

Email or WhatsApp, whichever you prefer. I’ll flag anything that needs your input as I go and let you know when it’s done.

The filters I set up should stop most of the junk coming back. If it does get out of hand again, you can book another detox or look at ongoing inbox management if you’d rather hand it over completely.

I’m ICO registered, hold professional indemnity insurance and cyber insurance, and work within GDPR guidelines. Access is limited to what’s needed for the job and removed as soon as it’s done.

Just get it sorted.

You’ve been putting it off long enough. Drop me a message and I’ll have it done before the week is out.
