Tools I use and recommend.
Everything here is something I use myself or regularly set up for clients.
Some include a discount, code or free trial I can pass on, but I only recommend tools I genuinely think are useful.
Updated as the toolkit changes.
For clients
Tools that make business easier.
The tools I reach for first when a client needs something sorting.
-
Airlandline
A virtual landline that follows you around.
I use Air Landline for my own business. Calls come through to my mobile, and if I miss one, the voicemail is transcribed and sent straight to my inbox. Handy when I am with a customer, driving or out and about and cannot answer.
I also set this up for clients and can go through missed calls for them too, so enquiries do not just sit there forgotten.
If you sign up through my link, you will get a free two-week trial.
Some links pay me a small commission if you sign up. It never changes the price you pay, and I only list what I would recommend anyway.
For virtual assistants
Tools I use to run my VA business.
If you run a VA business, or are starting one, these are the things that have earned their keep in mine.
-
FreeAgent
If you are a VA and want to keep your accounts simple, FreeAgent is worth a look.
I use it for my own business to send invoices, track expenses, keep an eye on what I owe in tax and see exactly where I am financially without having to live in spreadsheets.
It links to your bank account too, so transactions can be pulled in automatically and matched as you go.
For a small VA business, it does pretty much everything you need without feeling overly complicated.
-
1p Mobile
If you want a simple SIM-only plan without being tied into a long contract, 1pMobile is worth a look.
It uses the EE network, offers uncapped data speeds, and plans start from just £5 a month.
You get 30-day plans with unlimited UK calls and texts, with different data options depending on what you need.
I like that it keeps things straightforward. You can change your plan if your needs change, without being stuck in a long contract.
-
Mailerlite
If you want to start or grow an email list without making things more complicated than they need to be, MailerLite is a good option.
You can use it to send newsletters, set up automated emails, create sign-up forms and landing pages, and keep everything in one place.
I use it myself and like that it is fairly easy to get around, even if email marketing is not something you want to spend hours learning.
There is a free plan to get started, with paid options available as your list grows.
Some links pay me a small commission if you sign up. It never changes the price you pay.
Not sure which one fits?
Tell me what you are trying to sort and I will say which of these, if any, is worth your time. That is a free call, not a sales pitch.
Free. Fifteen minutes. No hard sell.
