Cookie Policy

What cookies this website uses, why they exist, and how to turn them off if you want to.

Last updated: 24 April 2026

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites save on your device. They’re used to remember things (like whether you’re logged in), make sites work properly, and sometimes to track what you’re doing across the web.

This site uses as few cookies as possible, and none of them are used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Cookies used on this site

Cookie Purpose Type Expires
PHPSESSID Keeps your session active so forms, booking flows, and multi-step pages work. Essential for the site to function. Essential End of browser session
vr_visitor A first-party identifier used by my own visitor analytics, so I can see which pages are being looked at without double counting. Doesn’t contain personal data. Functional 30 days
vr_cookies_ack Remembers that you’ve seen the cookie notice so I don’t show it to you on every page. Functional 12 months

That’s it. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no LinkedIn tag, no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers.

Third party services

Some pages on this site link out to or embed content from third parties. If you interact with those, they may set their own cookies:

  • Booking page. The booking system connects to Google Calendar. Google may set cookies if you’re signed in to a Google account.
  • Newsletter signup. Submissions go to MailerLite, which may set cookies during the signup flow.
  • WhatsApp button. Clicking the WhatsApp link opens WhatsApp, which has its own tracking and cookies.
  • Invoicing. Payments are taken by BACS bank transfer, not through the site. Invoices are issued via FreeAgent, which may set its own cookies if you view an invoice online.

I don’t control those cookies. Their privacy and cookie policies apply when you use those services.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in the settings. Here’s how:

  • Chrome. Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data.
  • Safari. Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox. Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge. Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies.

Blocking the essential PHPSESSID cookie will break forms and the booking flow. Blocking the others is fine and won’t affect anything important.

For more on how to manage cookies generally, aboutcookies.org is a good guide.

Do Not Track

This site respects Do Not Track signals. If your browser sends a DNT header, the analytics cookie (vr_visitor) is not set.

Changes to this policy

If I add new cookies or services, this page gets updated. The date at the top will tell you when. For anything significant, I’ll flag it on the homepage or in the newsletter.
